Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Insurance under the faculty of Social and Management Sciences that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Insurance has been published in this post.
As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Insurance.
Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Insurance. Irrespective of the subjects required by each school, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory subjects that you need to pass before you can gain admission to study Insurance.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Subject Requirements For Insurance
The WAEC subjects required to study Insurance are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(a) For Accounting it requires other two relevant subjects could be from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, office Practice and Secretarial duties.
(b) For Public Administration if requires ‘O’ Level credit to include English Language, Mathematics, Government, Economics and any one of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, office Practice and Secretariat Studies.
(c) For Business Administration it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics plus any three of Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Government and Geography.
(d) For Insurance, it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any two of Accounting, Business Method, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics.
(e) For Marketing, it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any three of Business Method, Commerce, Book Keeping and Economics.
(ii) UNIBEN (for Insurance) – A pass in Further Mathematics is an advantage.
(ii) UNIBEN (for marketing) requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects at not more than two sittings
