Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Fine / Applied Art under the faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Fine / Applied Art has been published in this post.

As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Fine / Applied Art.

Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Fine / Applied Art. Irrespective of the subjects required by each school, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory subjects that you need to pass before you can gain admission to study Fine / Applied Art.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Subject Requirements For Fine / Applied Art

The WAEC subjects required to study Fine / Applied Art are as follows:

Five SSCE passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts and two other from social science subject.
Mathematics, Arts and one Social Science subject.
For NTC the other two relevant subjects could be from any of the following: Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall Handling, Colour Mixing.

For NTC the other two relevant subjects could be from any of the following: Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Lining, Sign and Design; Wall Handling, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Graphic Painting; Ceramics; Basic Electricity; Building/Engineering Drawing

Direct Entry and SSCE

(i) LAUTECH may accept ND/NCE with upper credit. in related fields plus UTME requirements.

(ii) OOU accepts NCE in Fine Arts or Applied Arts.

(ii) ABSU accepts good passes at HSC, GCE Advance level or NCE Examination in Fine Arts with an Average of B and minimum of five credits. Credit including English Language in SSCE or its equivalent

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) LAUTECH accepts Agricultural Science, Human Health and Nutrition as Science subjects.

(ii) ABSU requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts and any other two subjects for a four years programme. For Five year programme, five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects.

(iii) UNIUYO accepts a pass (P7) in Mathematics. The department will assess the candidate’s real art pieces.

(iv) OOU Five Credit passes to include English language Mathematics and any other three (3) subjects.

As mentioned earlier, the WAEC subject combination and requirements for Fine / Applied Art posted above are only eligible if you want to study Fine / Applied Art under the faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology.
