Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Creative Arts under the faculty of Arts and Humanities that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Creative Arts has been published in this post.
As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Creative Arts.
Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Creative Arts. O Level (WAEC and NECO) Subject Requirements For Creative Arts
The WAEC subjects required to study Creative Arts are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Fine Art.
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig, Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig,Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic Printing and Ceramics.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNILAG requires Mathematics and any of Music, Fine Art or Literature-in-English and two other related subjects one of which must be an Arts subject.
(ii) UNIPORT requires three subjects from Literature in English, CRK/IRK, Economics, Maths/Biology/Agric. Sc., a Nigerian Language, History/Government and geography.
(iii) UNN requires five credits pass to include English Language Fine and Applied Arts and one Science subject. Candidates who possess NABTEB/NTC must have 5 credit passes which must include English language, Technical drawing, Painting and decorating and a science subject.
