Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Geography under the faculty of Social and Management Sciences that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Geography has been published in this post.
As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Geography.
Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Geography. Irrespective of the subjects required by each school, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory subjects that you need to pass before you can gain admission to study Geography.

The WAEC subjects required to study Geography are as follows:

Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Geography, and any three from Arts or Social Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU requires credit passes in Mathematics, Geography and any one of the following subjects: Economics, Government, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

(ii) UI accepts candidates who did not offer Geography at UTME, but has ‘O’ level credits in the subject.

(iii) UI requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language, Geography and any three Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

(iv) BSU and OAU require ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

(v) OAU accepts credit in English, Geography and any three other subjects.

(vi) ABSU requires credit passes in English Language, Geography and any three of History, Government, Economics, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and Agric Science.

(vii) TSUJ and NDU require five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two from Arts or Social Science subjects

(viii) BAYERO requires Geography and at least one other Social Science subject.

(ix) ILORIN require ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.
UTME, but has ‘O’ level credits in the subject.

(x) UIBADAN requires 5/6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language, Geography and any three Arts or S/Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

(xi) BSU and OAU require ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics.

(xii) OAU accepts credit in English, Geography and any three other subjects.

(xiii) ABSU requires credit passes in English Language, Geography and any three of History, Government, Economics, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and Agric Science.

(xiv) TSUJ and NDU require five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two from Arts or Social Science subjects

(xv) BAYERO requires Geography and at least one other Social Science subject.

(xvi) UNILAGOS requires credit passes in Geography and any two from Science or Social Science.

(xvii) UNIOSUN requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any to relevant Science, Social Science or Humanities subjects at not more than two sittings.

(xviii) KWASU requires credit passes in Mathematics, English, Geography and any other two science or social science subjects and one science subject preferably physics, chemistry and technical Drawing.

(xix) NDA requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and two other subjects from Commerce, Economics, History, French, Arabic, Accounts and Government.

(xx) KSU requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and two other relevant subjects in either Natural Sciences or Social Sciences.

(xxi) UNN accepts Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Geography and any three subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(xxii) NDU requires five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two from Arts, Social Science or Science subjects in not more than two sittings.

(xxiii) UNIABUJA accepts five credit Passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Geography and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Economics Biology/ Agricultural Science and Government.
