Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Zoology under the faculty of Sciences that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Zoology has been published in this post.
As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Zoology.
Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Zoology. Irrespective of the subjects required by each school, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory subjects that you need to pass before you can gain admission to study Zoology.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Subject Requirements For Zoology
The WAEC subjects required to study Zoology are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two other science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) LASU requires chemistry plus at least a pass in Physics.
(ii) AAUA requires a credit pass in Chemistry as the fifth subject.
(iii) IMSU Requires at least a pass in Physics.
(iv) IGBINEDION requires O’ level credit in English Language, Maths, Biology, Chemistry plus Physics or any other Science Subject.
(v) UNN requires five (5) O’ level credit passes obtained at not more than two sittings including Biology, English Language, Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry at School Certificate or its equivalent.
(vi) UNIPORT requires Physics and Chemistry.
(vii) BASU, UNIBEN and UNILORIN require credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. UNIBEN accepts credit pass in any Science Subject in lieu of Physics.
(viii) OAU requires Physics or Chemistry.
(ix) UNICAL requires Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. MOUAU accepts a pass in English.
(x) UNIMAID accepts a pass in English Language with a credit pass in Sciences.
(xi) RSUST requires Chemistry.
(xii) DELSU accepts Health/Science in lieu of Biology and does not require Mathematics.
(xiii) IMSU accepts a pass in English Language.
(xiv) UNIBADAN requires 5 or 6 credit passes at one or two sittings to include, English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject except Agric. Science.
(xv) UNIMAID requires credit passes in Chemistry and Physics/Geography.
(xvi) UNIUYO requires a Credit passes in Mathematics and Chemistry and may accept P.7 in Physics.
(xvii) RENAISSANCE requires geography.
(xviii) KSUST requires credit in Chemistry and accepts credit in Agriculture in lieu of Biology.
(xix) KSU and ABSU require five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
(xx) FED-LAFIA requires credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science.
(xxi) UNILAG requires credit passes in Chemistry and Physics as the other two science subjects.
(xxii) WESTERN-DEL requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, either Biology or Agriculture and Geography.
(xxiii) OSUSTECH requires five O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any one of Agricultural Science, Physics and Geography.
(xxiv) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics and any three of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.
(xxv) FUAM – Candidates seeking admission into any of these Programmes must possess five (5) credit passes which MUST be from one examination body (i.e. either WAEC or NECO) and obtained at NOT more than two (2) sittings. The Department does not accept the combination of both WAEC and NECO. Students of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi Pre-degree Remedial Science Programme who pass their end of session examinations are considered or admission on the condition that they also pass UTME. NOTE: Agricultural Science and Health Science shall NOT be accepted in place of Biology. Further Mathematics shall NOT be accepted in place of Physics or Mathematics.
(xxvi) UNIJOS requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and one other Science subject.
(xxvii) BSU accepts passes in five (5) prescribed subjects in Preliminary Science of BSU in addition to minimum UTME score.
