Referencing the introduction already made above, this is a notice to all aspirants who wish to apply for admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Statistics under the faculty of Sciences that the list of compulsory subjects as well as optional subjects required in O level result (WAEC and NECO) before applying for admission into Statistics has been published in this post.
As mentioned above, some of these NECO and WAEC subject requirements are compulsory which means you need to have at least a minimum of Credit passes (C6) in them in your o level result before you can use it to apply for admission to study Statistics.
Also, keep in mind that some schools may have special subject combination requirements for the subjects that are eligible to be used in JAMB before one can gain admission into Statistics. Irrespective of the subjects required by each school, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory subjects that you need to pass before you can gain admission to study Statistics.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Subject Requirements For Statistics
The WAEC subjects required to study Statistics are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIZIK and AAU accept a pass in English Language.
(ii) BIU accepts any Science subject in addition to Mathematics and Physics.
(iii) UNN requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least two subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
(iv) ABSU requires Five SSCE passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any three of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Geography and Additional Mathematics.
(v) IMSU requires a credit in Physics and accepts a pass in English Language.
(vi) MOUAU requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other relevant Science subject.
(vii) UNIBADAN does not accept Economics as a Science Subject.
(viii) UNIBADAN requires 5 or 6 credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other 3 Science subjects at one or two sittings.
(ix) UNIPORT requires Chemistry, Physics and any one of Biology, Geography or Economics.
(x) BASU and OAU do not accept Economics and Geography.
(xi) MOUAU requires at least O’ Level credit passes in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.
(xii) AAU requires subjects listed for UTME in addition to English and Mathematics.
(xiii) KWARARAFA requires credit pass in Physics.
(xiv) RENAISSANCE requires Further Maths.
(xv) UNAAB requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The University does not accept Economics as UTME subject.
(xvi) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics three other subjects, two of which must be from two subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
(xvii) UNICAL requires in addition to the general entry requirements approved for admission to Nigerian Universities; candidates must have passed SSCE/GCE O/level in Mathematics, Physics. Chemistry and Biology in addition to an acceptable pass in UTME. A credit in Further Mathematics will be an advantage.
(xviii) EKSU does not accept NCE for Direct Entry.
(xix) FUTA requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Biology.
(xx) ABSU requires five SSCCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, geography and Additional Mathematics.
(xxi) ADELEKE requires three other credit passes from Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science.
(xxii) KSUSTA does not accept Statistics and Further Mathematics.
(xxiii) FED-LAFIA and LAUTECH require five SSCCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(xxiv) FUTO requires at least five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Science subject in not more than two sittings.
(xxv) FUAM require five O/L credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry.
As mentioned earlier, the WAEC subject combination and requirements for Statistics posted above are only eligible if you want to study Statistics under the faculty of Sciences.
